The Elfin Sports Car Company was born on the racetrack. Founded under the Australian sun in Adelaide by racer and engineer Garrie Cooper five decade ago, Elfin was built on a single credo: built fast to win.

Elfin racers made an instant impact on Australian open-wheeler and sports car competition, going on to win no fewer than 29 championships and major titles, including two Australian Driver's Championships, fi ve Australian Sports Car Championships, four Australia Tourist Trophies and three Formula Ford titles.

Even though Elfin made its mark in racing, Cooper had unfi nished business: he wanted to apply the same skills that had hatched some of the sharpest race cars around to road cars. Unfortunately, Cooper never realised his dream, passing away in 1982. Thankfully, others shared his wish, taking over the Elfin operation and, over time, extending Elfin production to uncompromising sports cars for the road. Renowned for their race-like handling and class-leading powerto- weight ratio, Elfi n road cars have been favourites of club racers and true performance car enthusiasts who relish supercar-like performance in a purist and exclusive package.

In 2004, Elfin owners Bill Hemming and Nick Kovatch took the company to a new level when, in collaboration with GM Holden, they unveiled a striking V8-powered Elfin MS8 range at the Melbourne International Motor Show. The MS8 Clubman and Streamliner powered by GM's 5.7-litre Gen III V8 were designed by renowned HoldenDesign Director and Elfi n enthusiast, Mike Simcoe, and his team. In 2006, Elfi n harnessed the international power of Walkinshaw Performance, the high-performance automotive engineering company founded by British racing legend Tom Walkinshaw.

Walkinshaw Performance was instrumental in helping Elfin to bring the Elfin MS8 range to full production in Melbourne. Walkinshaw Performance acquired Elfi n in December 2006, with plans to expand both its range and production volumes, with an eye on exports. Now with ADR compliance for road use, the hand build MS8 Clubman and Streamliner are set to turn heads on both the race track and on the highway. But one thing hasn't changed: Elfin cars are still built fast to win.
