SHACKS HAS BEEN SERVICING FOR 100 YEARS

For 100 years Shacks has been taking care of Western Australian motorists with the same care and attention that made Andy Shack renown back in 1922.

100 years ago this month Andy Shack opened a small automotive repair shop in Adelaide St, Fremantle.

As we celebrate the beginning of our next century we know Andy would be proud of the automotive group Shacks has become today.

Resilience, innovation and a hard-earned reputation to always do the right thing have played a huge role in how we have survived a world war, a great depression and this global pandemic. With Andy’s core values as a guiding principle, we’ve proven success in adapting to the many changes in the automotive industry over the years.

In 1934 Andy was joined by Pat Kerr as a mechanic and future business partner. Soon afterwards Andy’s two sons also joined the business and they officially formed the – Shack Motors. Pat was instrumental in obtaining the franchise for the first Australian built car – Holden, and our partnership with Holden was one of the most successful in Australia.

To this day generations of the Shack and Kerr families continue to lead the business, and have expanded into new franchises – Mazda, Volkswagen, GMSV, Geely and our Holden servicing centre in Rockingham as well as PPG Automotive Paints and 3M at Fremantle. All run– still with the same care for customers, staff and community.

We think Andy would be particularly proud of our relationships with our franchisors, clients, customers, suppliers and team-members. Many of these relationships have lasted decades.

Most of all, we have always looked after our community. We’re excited to see what our next 100 years holds.
